For Immediate Release
As many shoppers rush through
Thanksgiving dinner to make the Thursday night sales, one young woman from Long
Beach is on a mission to help those in line.
“I feel bad for the people that
have to work on Thanksgiving, but I also feel bad for the people who feel
pressured to shop that night and on Black Friday. I just thought maybe I can do
something to help,” says Danielle Robertson, food technologist.
Robertson, author of “Are You a Monster or a Rock Star: A Guide to Energy Drinks” will be visiting several
popular stores in the La Habra and Brea area, where her family resides,
providing holiday shoppers with what she calls “Caffeine Care Packages”. Each
care package comes in a gift tote and contains water, bubble gum, and a
single-serving energy drink with 80 milligrams of caffeine.
“I know so many people who reach
for caffeine when really they’re just bored or dehydrated. I wanted to give
something to shoppers that are already stressed out and tired to help them keep
their energy up and avoid caffeine overconsumption,” Robertson explains.
Each care package also contains a
wristband imprinted with her blog address (GreeneyedGuide.com), and a short
booklet on the 5 Levels of Fatigue, an excerpt from her book. After earning her
master’s degree in food biochemistry from UC Davis, Robertson developed the 5
Levels of Fatigue to help caffeine consumers pick products best suited for
their personal situation. Each level features specific guidelines on caffeine
content and ingredients to look for on a product label.
“Sometimes you just need water;
sometimes only sleep will save you; all the times in between you may need
caffeine, but not a high-powered jolt every single time.”
While many shoppers will be
determined to find the best deals, Robertson is on a mission to help consumers
stay energized, alert and safe.
